Cost & insurance

What braces cost near Carrollton, and why quotes differ.

It's usually the first question and the hardest one to answer from a website. Not because anyone's hiding the number. Two kids in the same grade can need very different amounts of work.

The short answer

The fee depends mostly on how complicated the case is, much more than on the appliance. At Elate, clear aligners cost close to what braces do. The free first visit gives you the exact number, your insurance breakdown, and the payment options, so you can compare it with any other quote.

What moves the price

  • How much needs to change. Closing a small gap is a different job from correcting a bite in three directions.
  • Early treatment vs. full treatment. Phase 1 for a young child is usually a smaller, separate fee, and it doesn't always replace treatment later.
  • Appliance. Metal, clear ceramic, or aligners. The spread is narrower than most people assume.
  • Add-ons. Expanders, an impacted tooth coordinated with a surgeon, or extra work around missing teeth.
  • Retainers. Ask what's included and what replacements cost. At Elate, ask about the Retainer Assurance Program.

Comparing two quotes

A lower number that leaves out records, retainers, or emergency visits isn't actually lower. Ask every office the same five things:

  1. Are the exam, X-rays, and scans included?
  2. Are retainers included, and how many sets?
  3. What happens to the fee if treatment runs longer than expected?
  4. Is there a charge for broken brackets or lost aligners?
  5. Can the payment plan be paid off early with no penalty?
Insurance

Usually a lifetime maximum

Orthodontic coverage is often a one-time dollar amount per person, not a yearly benefit. Some plans cover adults and some stop at a certain age. Elate is in network with most major PPO plans and files the claim for you.

HSA & FSA

Pre-tax dollars

Orthodontic treatment generally counts as a medical expense for HSA and FSA accounts. FSAs often have a use-it-or-lose-it deadline, so starting near your plan year can help. Your plan administrator has the final word.

Payment plans

No interest in-house

Elate offers monthly plans with no interest, plus CareCredit and Cherry. Try the payment calculator before the visit.

New job, new plan

Check before you start

If you're changing employers, ask whether the new plan covers treatment that started under an old one. Many don't.

Should price decide it?

It's a fair factor. It just shouldn't be the only one. The difference between a well-finished case and a so-so one lasts for decades, and redoing treatment costs more than doing it once. A few minutes checking who's actually treating you is worth it. What to check.

If a quote from somewhere else is what's holding you back, a second opinion at Elate is free, and you can have it in Korean with Dr. Kang if you prefer. Sometimes the plan turns out to be different, not just the price. What the consultation covers.
